ABSTRACT
The Hsinchuang Line Taipei MRT's Hsinchuang Depot site is situated within the
Hsinchuang fault zone, characterized by diverse geological compositions and
materials, and notable decompression and swelling traits. These factors make it
particularly susceptible to disturbances during slope excavation and construction.
In order to address safety concerns for the adjacent Lesheng Reservation District
and the slope, and based on expert recommendations, a cut-and-cover tunnel
extending 200 meters eastward from the base's west side was implemented. This
approach effectively mitigates the long-term decompression and displacement of
the fault zone's geology, enhances slope stability through reduced height and
structural overlap, and decreases the impact of groundwater pressure recovery and
upward forces.
During the slope excavation, ongoing monitoring and analysis of displacement
were conducted using collected data. Additionally, given hydrological changes
brought about by recent unexpected climate events, a response plan was developed
to ensure long-term slope safety during operation. To further guarantee the safety of
the Depot during the operational phase, as well as the safety of the nearby Lesheng
Sanatorium, and to address external safety concerns about the Sanatorium, a
comprehensive long-term safety monitoring system for the machine factory was
