Abstract
Taichung MRT Green line stations all have their own unique features. In
particular, the external walls of stations G7 and G9 are constructed with a
"Lightweight Seamless Composite Plywood System." The construction of 3D
surfaces is as challenging to carry out as that of the Taichung National Opera’s
curved wall structure. Furthermore, the MRT stations are located in the most
heavily trafficked areas; therefore, traffic maintenance planning was severely
restricted. In a variety of adverse conditions, with professional engineering
experience, the construction team fully developed their creative ingenuity, and
conceived of the innovative conception of a cantilever construction platform.
Through the management process of planning, doing, checking and action
(PDCA), we summarized the problems to find solutions and further enhanced
the overall construction safety, quality and efficiency. The innovative measure
won the top prize in the 2017 Taipei City Government Creative Proposal
Competition.
