ABSTRACT Xinyi Line Project Extension East CR285 of Taipei MRT is located
on the east side of the central part of the Taipei basin. Project includes station,
cross-over and ventilation shaft with cut and cover method, and shield tunnels
with shield machines. Since the shield tunnel is mainly drilled in the composite
strata of alluvial deposit, colluvial deposit and rock formation, the construction
difficulty and risks are obvious and significantly higher than general shield tunnel
construction. Thus, it is worth to share with engineering. This article mainly
introduces the design considerations and construction planning of shield tunnel
of CR285, including the selection of shield machines, grouting methods, building
protection, approaching tunnel construction and instrument monitoring etc..
Hopefully through the appropriate design considerations and pre-construction
planning, the construction risk can be reduced to the lowest and the project is
smoothly completed.
