Taking the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System as an example, this
paper describes design approaches applied to energy efficiency and carbon reduction for transport

architectures. As structure, spatial layout and functionality of MRT stations differ greatly from
general buildings, this paper also explores limitations in reviewing candidate certificates of green
buildings, applicability and diversity of formulas and calculations of current green building mark

reviews. It is hoped that the exploration will not only contribute to a more comprehensive review of
sustainable environment and green buildings but also achieve green building policy promotion.
