                                                  Abstract
                         Taipei Rapid Transit system (TRTS-4S) is developed based on the framework
                       and database of TRTS-IV to account for the developments in newly-developed
                       areas. The survey data in 2009 was used as the baseline for TRTS-IV. Since
                       then, the socio-economic characteristics of some new areas, such as Neihu
                       District and Linkou District have considerably changed. Moreover, the MRT
                       network and its business model have also changed over time, which may cause
                       considerable errors in demand forecasting. Therefore, a project was launched
                       to review and make adjustments of parameters to enhance the forecast
                       capabilities of TRTS-IV, or the formulation of the new TRTS-4S model. This
                       article describes the new features and upgrades in the TRTS-4S model for
                       Taipei Metropolitan Area.
