ABSTRACT
The advancements of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in recent
times have impacted and enhanced the traditional processes and mindsets of the
construction industry. BIM has evolved from use only in vertical systems (such as
buildings) to horizontal systems (geotechnical, railway transport, utility lines,
common utility ducts, GIS, etc.). Apart from generating 3D models, BIM is used as
a horizontal workflow integration, providing a comprehensive construction
information database (including for buildings, viaducts, roads, tunnels, etc.) within
its 3D models. This platform allows for improvements in design efficiency and
reduces potential construction issues. Primary uses for BIM in this Project include
for collaborative processes and cloud data management, ensuring each project team
member utilizes up-to-date models and information. By adopting these
technologies as well as 3D visualization and automated modeling, BIM has
enhanced the overall integrity of the integrated design for the MRT Circular Line –
North Section Stations and Tunnel Portal.
