                                              ABSTRACT


            This introduction report is focused on the issue of increasing energy efficiency in
            the power systems by minimizing energy loss using amorphous metal transformers
            instead of cast resin transformers. The physics principles which account for why
            amorphous metal transformers have lower energy loss is reviewed. An example of
            replacing a cast resin transformer with an amorphous metal transformer is given
            and discussed. The results of this report can serve as a useful reference for  wider
            use of amorphous metal transformers in the future.
