                                              ABSTRACT

Technology progresses and leads the mass rapid transit system to be fully automatic
and driverless. Operation control center (OCC) must collect a large amount of
information so that the OCC operators can interpret the current situation and
respond in time. However, there are various forms of information, including text
and images, also the voice and data transmission on different interfaces. How to
effectively transmit information in a short time is very important.
In the communication system, the Communications Multi-Function Terminal
(CMFT) is the most important which integrates the human-machine interface of
workstations, including communication system (radio system, closed circuit
television system, Public Address system, train communication control system, dot
matrix display system, direct line telephone system, clock system), real time train
location information system and communication alarm management system. The
CMFT can assist OCC operators to fully manage the stations, and is integrated with
all communication mechanisms into the same interface. It can quickly respond to
all the train and passenger events and accelerate the processing efficiency of
events. The purpose of this article is to introduce the operational requirements and
to discuss the planning and design of the Communications Multi-Function
            Terminal.
