Application of Superjet-Midi (SJM) Grouting Method–Taking the Luzhou Line’s
St. Ignatius High School Station as an Example

Abstract
In a geological survey during construction, the Luzhou line’s St. Ignatius High School Station
(Section Contract CL700B) was found to have complex soil layers with a tendency towards floating
and being disturbed. In addition, on the diaphragm wall appeared multiple continuous bends. As a
result, all those factors have contributed to difficulties during construction of the station. Although
necessary consideration and operations about the potential risks were conducted prior to deep
excavation, an accident occurred on Sept. 8, 2005 that could still have been effectively avoided.
Taking the accident at the Luzhou line’s St. Ignatius High School Station as an example, this paper
introduces related follow-up remedial measures and reviews the application of the Superjet-Midi
(SJM) grouting method to the construction site returning to its original condition, and serving as a
reference for later station excavation.
