Retrofit and Integration of the Muzha Line and the Neihu Line

                                                 Chien-Wen Chiang
                                                       Abstract

The original Muzha line adopted the VAL256 system of MATRA. During the tendering phase
of the Neihu line, to allow a greater number of companies to participate in the said tender and
achieve the "one train no transfer" requirement of the Muzha & Neihu whole line, a requirement
for the retrofitting of the Muzha line's ATC equipment was thus specified in the tendering

documents. Later it was decided that the Neihu line E&M system subcontract would be performed
by Bombardier Inc., and the CITYFLO 650 adopted for ATC equipment. The main objective of
this article is to describe the integration process of the new Neihu line system and the old Muzha

line system, the relevant equipment items regarding the retrofitting, and the retrofitting plan.
Through the step-by-step performance of the said plan, the integration of the new Neihu line
system and the old Muzha line system will be completed.

Keywords: system integration plan, VAL256 system of MATRA, CITYFLO 650 of Bombardier
