                                              ABSTRACT

In the past years, due to the limitation of communication network and Protective
Relay, the Taipei Metro substation can only be provided with the very basic
function , which transmits the data of the each equipment in the Bulk Supply Power
Substation, Propulsion Power Substation and Facility Power Substation to the
Power Remote Control monitoring system . Each equipment’s alarm, event and the
captured measurement value is uploaded to the control center Power Supervisory
Control And Data Acquisition through the communication network. Then we have
to concern the issue of interoperability among the equipments with various brands.
Those connected equipments provided by different manufacturers need to be
interoperable with each other to assume the data transmission interfaces are
interoperable without failures. The new Intelligent Electronic Device , which
combines the function of protection, measurement, control and communication,
will be applied to the Taipei Metro power monitoring system following the
application of IEC 61850. Base on the standardized guidelines for the data
modularization, system construction, configuration definition, equipment
configuration and testing in IEC 61850, the communication protocol consistency
used to exchange information between devices can realize the interoperability of
each Intelligent Electronic Device and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition
system. Therefore the information can be shared for operation in real time and
            reliability will also be improved.
