                                                       Abstract

Daan Park, one of the best green areas in Taipei City, facilitates everyday interactions between
humans and nature. When creating the public art for Daan Park Station and other stations, the
author selected “Dancing with Nature, Dialogue with the Earth” as the main theme. The project
“Enjoy Green Life in Daan Park” revealed the content attitude of Taipei residents and their vision of
pursuing a great life through interaction with nature.
The project includes six permanent public art installations, consisting of three works by foreign
artists – “Daan Flower” by America’s Pete Beeman, “Autumn Traveler” by France’s Yvan Mauger,
and “The Four Seasons” by Japan’s Kyofumi Shiba – along with three works by Taiwanese artists
            – “Spring Light Appears” by Lin Shuen-long, “Flying Legend” by Lai Tsun-tsun, and “Water City
Taipei” by Jam Wu. In addition, a month-long public arts festival featured performances from five
artists. Ecology and arts are essential elements of a sustainable, creative, and diverse city. This
project, involving diverse public artworks and art activities, allowed citizens to get closer to art. The
artworks invited people to “dance with nature, dialog with the earth,” eliciting a deeper respect for
            life and nature.
