Abstract
During the construction of the down track tunnel for Taipei MRT Xinzhuang line Section
Contract CK570A, water seepage was found from the backfill grout holes (the main purpose
of grouting is to fill the gap between segmental lining and earth after the installation of tunnel
segments) of installed segments. After investigation, it was found that this type of water
leakage from grouting holes commonly occurs in tunnel construction work both domestically
and abroad. A variety of remedial methods to deal with this problem are used but no absolute
solution has been reached. Joint investigation and research was carried out between engineers
of the South District Project Office (SDPO) and tunnel contractor to analyze the cause of
the leakage and come up with a remedial method to deal with it. This article describes the
Xinzhuang line Section Contract CK570A tunnel segment grouting hole leakage improvement
process, method used and result obtained, then further analyzes in a probe aimed at efficiently
upgrading the construction quality of transit system shield tunneling work.
