                                  Brief Introduction of Neihu Line’s Public Art

                                                       Abstract

                  The installation of public artworks at Taipei MRT stations aims to improve MRT space
             quality, strengthen local characteristics, and enhance the public’s affinity for MRT construction.

             In terms of strategy, on the initial network, public artworks were only displayed as added items
             at selected stations. However, for the subsequent network, public art has been incorporated into
             station’s overall planning with an aim to have artworks integrated with environment and achieve
             the goal of creating an art-based environment and environment-based art. The installation plan of

             Neihu line’s public art includes station design, architectural decorations, landscape, and viaduct’s
             lighting design. In addition, according to surrounding environment or space characteristics, public
             art planners choose specific stations and propose planning report with public art themes, forms,
             cost, ways of solicitation, and open solicitation included in accordance with public art installation

             regulations. This article describes public art planners’ installation concept and solicitation
             achievements so as to provide an introduction to the appreciation of Neihu line’s public art.
