Abstract
Surrounded by mountains on three sides and with the Keelung River to the south, the Neihu
District has attracted large numbers of people to live there. It has been given the moniker “Silicon
Valley” of Greater Taipei with high-tech industry companies relocating to the area in recent years.
The Neihu line will adopt a medium capacity transit system with rubber-tyred automatic vehicles
that will connect to the existing Muzha line. When the Neihu line comes into operation, passengers
will be able to travel from the Muzha line to the Neihu line and vice versa without transferring
trains. Not only will it provide convenient, rapid, and high-quality public transport, but it will also
enhance the prosperity and development of the district.
Differing from the Muzha line, the Neihu line has adopted the CITY FLO 650TM system,
which is a fully automatic, driverless medium capacity transit system using a moving block control
system and communication-based train control system. The Neihu line system can automatically
maintain a safe distance between trains and precisely control the location of trains all the time, and
these control functions are conducted from the control center by wayside equipment.
