                                                             Abstract

This paper introduces the application of AC system study used in the design for power supply
system of rapid transit system. This paper also introduces the characteristic and function of the
software PTW used for AC system study by DORTS. The PTW can execute the load flow study,
short-circuit current study and emergency generator study. The PTW provides some benefits for the
design of power supply system and review of the AC system study submittal document. To
introduce the main simulation items which decide the configuration of AC/DC power supply
system, the full paper is divided into two parts: DC system study and AC system study. This paper
itself presents AC system study only. The application of DC system study has been presented in
RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEMS & TECHNOLOGY journal No.28.
